Senior Video Editor, Meta Ads

Make ads that stop the scroll, hold attention, and get people to take action

Sugar Land, TX HQ (On-site)Full-time$75,000 to $100,000+

In-house role only. Remote and hybrid are not available.

About the role

JWeis is looking for an exceptional Senior Video Editor who understands direct-response advertising and knows how to create Meta ads that stop the scroll, hold attention, and get people to take action.

This is not a traditional video editing position.

We do not need someone who simply takes a script, adds captions and B-roll, and exports a video. We need someone who understands why an ad works.

You should understand hooks, buyer behavior, avatars, offers, angles, messaging, pacing, pattern interrupts, captions, visual storytelling, UGC, talking-head creative, VSLs, CTAs, and the performance data that tells us what to test next.

You need to be both a creative thinker and a hands-on video editor.

What you'll do

You will create direct-response video advertising primarily for Meta, Facebook and Instagram, across JWeis and our clients.

Create the ads

  • Create scroll-stopping video ads designed to generate leads, appointments, and customers.
  • Turn raw footage, UGC, talking heads, testimonials, client assets, B-roll, stock footage, voiceovers, and AI-generated assets into finished ads.
  • Edit UGC, talking-head, spokesperson, testimonial, founder-led, VSL, Reel-style, and other direct-response formats.
  • Use pacing, cuts, captions, sound, B-roll, pattern interrupts, graphics, motion, and visual hierarchy intentionally.

Own the thinking behind them

  • Understand the customer, their problems, desires, objections, motivations, and buying behavior before creating the ad.
  • Develop and test hooks, angles, openings, visual concepts, scripts, CTAs, captions, and creative variations.
  • Write or improve hooks, scripts, headlines, on-screen copy, and CTAs.
  • Take creative concepts from idea through finished, testable video.

Iterate on what the data says

  • Review creative performance and understand what the data is telling us.
  • Use winning creative to develop new iterations, hooks, angles, and concepts.
  • Create multiple meaningful variations instead of simply changing a headline or background.

Build the production system

  • Build reusable templates and production systems that let us produce more high-quality creative faster.
  • Follow strict naming conventions and asset organization so creative tests can be properly tracked.
  • Use CapCut and other modern editing tools efficiently.
  • Use AI tools to improve research, ideation, scripting, asset generation, production, variations, and speed.

You need to understand direct response

We care about beautiful creative. We care even more about creative that performs.

You should be able to look at an ad and think beyond whether the edit looks good. You should be asking:

  • Why would our customer stop for this?
  • Is the opening strong enough?
  • Does the hook speak to the right person?
  • Are we hitting a real pain, desire, objection, or buying trigger?
  • Does the video create enough curiosity or desire to keep watching?
  • Does the creative match the offer?
  • Is the CTA strong enough?
  • What should we test against this version?

And once the ads are running, you should want to know what happened.

You need to understand the numbers

You do not need to be a media buyer, but you need to understand the performance metrics behind your creative. That includes:

  • Hook and thumb-stop rates
  • Hold rate and watch time
  • CTR
  • CPC
  • Conversion rate
  • CPL
  • Qualified lead or opportunity rate
  • Booked appointments
  • CAC
  • Downstream revenue and ROAS

You should understand that a video with a great hook but poor conversion has a different problem than a video nobody stops to watch.

We want someone who can use performance data to help answer: what worked, why it worked, what did not work, and what we should create or test next.

Creative testing is part of your job

You will not just make ads and hand them off. You will help us systematically test:

We want someone who understands that every test should teach us something.

The goal is not simply more videos. The goal is more intelligent creative testing that produces better videos.

You must be hands-on

You should personally be capable of taking:

Idea → Hook → Script → Assets → Edit → Captions → Copy → CTA → Finished Ad

You should be highly proficient with CapCut and/or professional video editing software, and comfortable learning new creative and AI tools quickly.

You should also know how to work efficiently using templates, reusable editing structures, caption styles, graphic treatments, B-roll libraries, asset libraries, and modular creative elements.

We need quality, but we also need speed and volume.

What we're looking for

  • Significant hands-on experience creating direct-response video advertising.
  • Recent experience producing video ads for an agency, brand, advertiser, or clients.
  • A strong portfolio of paid-social video creative.
  • Experience creating Meta, Facebook, and Instagram advertising.
  • Strong direct-response instincts.
  • Understanding of buyer psychology, hooks, offers, angles, messaging, and CTAs.
  • Strong short-form editing skills.
  • Experience with UGC, talking-head, testimonial, spokesperson, Reel-style, and similar formats.
  • Understanding of creative testing and iteration.
  • Experience reviewing performance data and using it to improve creative.
  • Ability to create multiple concepts and variations quickly.
  • Strong organizational habits and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to take feedback and improve quickly.
  • A desire to understand why your creative performed the way it did.

Agency or high-volume performance marketing experience is strongly preferred.

Your portfolio matters more than your resume

We want to see what you have actually created. We want people who have made direct-response advertising designed to make someone take action.

Be prepared to show us the work, explain your role in creating it, tell us what was tested, and discuss what happened after it went live.

Who this is not for

  • Editors whose experience is primarily corporate video, weddings, documentaries, long-form YouTube content, or brand videos with no measurable performance objective.
  • Anyone who wants someone else to do all the thinking and simply tell them what to cut.
  • Editors who take a script, add captions and B-roll, export, and move on.
  • Anyone who has never seen how their creative actually performed.
  • Anyone looking for remote or hybrid work.

    Your work

Links to at least 20 direct-response video ads you personally created or materially edited, preferably from the last 6 to 12 months. We are especially interested in Meta ads, UGC, talking-head, spokesperson, testimonial, Reel-style, VSL, and other performance creative.

Your work

Your portfolio matters more than your resume. We want to see direct-response ads, not brand films or corporate video.

At least 20 video ads you personally created or materially edited, ideally from the last 6 to 12 months. A Drive or Dropbox folder, Vimeo or YouTube reel, or portfolio site all work. Make sure the link is publicly viewable.

A second folder, a client reel, an ad library link, or anything else worth seeing.
